Downton Abbey is a historical drama written by Julian Fellowes. The series follows the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who work for them in an Edwardian country house just after the turn of the 20th century.
Lord Sinderby has rented out Brancaster Castle and invited the Crawley family for a shooting party. Stowell has a axe to grind as the rest of the family enjoy the fun. The families get better acquainted with one another. Back at Downton the servants hold the fort. Anna faces up to a uncertain future behind bars, Bates decides to take drastic action to clear her name. Carson and Mrs Hughes consider going into business together. Baxter and Molesley work together on a joint plan.
I know some of you are thinking, "oh joy, another stuffy British period drama" but I think that you would be happily surprised by Downton Abbey. Yes, it is another British period drama with lovely costumes, but it touches on topics that are relevant to today and it has one of the most talented casts currently on television. The storylines are strong and very easily keeps your attention which is saying a lot considering some of the other shows on the air today. Read more
