The year is 1919 and it is Christmas time at Downton Abbey. A lavish Christmas party is to be held at the Abbey but despite being the season of goodwill, tensions are high and Bates’s arrest has cast a shadow over the whole of Christmas. Mary needs to think about her future with Sir Richard Carlisle. Violet is worried about Rosamund, whose new suitor, Lord Hepworth ends up not being all that he seems.

I know some of you are thinking, "oh joy, another stuffy British period drama" but I think that you would be happily surprised by Downton Abbey. Yes, it is another British period drama with lovely costumes, but it touches on topics that are relevant to today and it has one of the most talented casts currently on television. The storylines are strong and very easily keeps your attention which is saying a lot considering some of the other shows on the air today. Read more
