The Closer

The Closer

TNT's new hit crime drama that was a success within weeks starring Kyra Sedgwick as Deputy Police Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson.

The LAPD has created a new division---Priority Homicide---to deal with high-profile murders and incidents. However, the assistant chief gives the job to a former FBI interrogator (and former lover), Brenda Leigh Johnson, raising ire in Capt. Taylor, the man who thought he would be getting the job...and the second highest rank in the department.

Brenda proves to be a contradiction in terms. She is socially absentminded at times; she has an addiction to junk food; her quirks can be annoying; and she can be a spitfire when the time calls for it. But, to the surprise of her team, she is also very adept, sharp, observant, and is a "closer"---someone who can get the confessions and the convictions.

7x21: The Last Word recap: The episode begins with Brenda being driven into a crime scene. Turns out, her team received an anonymous call regarding the dead body of a woman being found near Hollywood. The cell phone used to make the call was also dumped nearby, and it’s registered in the name of Douglas Grant an estate agent. Grant as it turns out had reported the cell phone stolen, the last night. The victim, Brenda is informed was raped and then strangled. She is also informed that, bodies of other women with a similar fate, have been discovered nearby. The only difference is unlike the rest, the victim who has just been found, hasn’t decomposed yet... read more.

7x20: Armed Response recap: The episode begins with cops patrolling in a chopper, being informed about a distress call. Other cops then drive to the scene and find a person lying on the road. Turns out, it’s a man and he is dead. His head seems severely battered from the looks of it, and he is wearing some sort of a uniform which looks exactly like that of a cop’s. Provenza concludes that the man was employed by some security agency. Andy later check the victim’s ID and finds out that his name is Danny Chaidez. It is also discovered that Danny was shot in the face at close range, by a shotgun. Provenza is also informed that Danny had earlier called in a suspicious activity earlier; a possible break-in into an empty house... read more.

He is told by her that, he has to go to the address written on the piece of paper she has handed to him. Later he pays the address a visit. He enters the apartment and calls out for someone named Dr. Hanlan. He then sees a note left by the doctor on a table in the apartment that reads “I’m on call, had to run. Arnold Basky is in bedroom down the hall”. The priest then enters the bedroom, and sees Mr. Basky lying on the bed covered from head to toe. He asks Mr. Basky if he would like to be anointed or if he would like his confession heard, but gets no reply... read more.

He then asks his girlfriend Anne to accompany him to a crime scene, after which they can proceed to the family brunch. Anne then sits near the crime scene and looks on, while David gets to work. David later tells Brenda that the victim’s name is Dr. Christopher Brady, who is a 41 year old gastroenterologist. He further informs her that Dr. Brady shares his office with another Doctor named Steven Parr, who is an oncologist and specializes with dealing in the cancers of the head and neck. He tells Andy he knows who is calling, but she ought to call 911 instead. Turns out, it was Provenza’s ex Liz who was calling him, and who lands up at the precinct as she needs to talk to him. She then hands him a receipt saying she sold their wedding ring, and as per their divorce settlement the ring was supposed to be worth $500, but she got only $49 for it.
