Emmerdale airs on the ITV network in the United Kingdom. The series orginally aired in the afternoons but became an early evening show in the early 1980s. It was orginally called Emmerdale Farm but was renamed just Emmerdale in 1989. The central family on the show since the beginning has been the Sugdens.

The revelation of Lawrence still been alive, plays heavy on Edna's mind, later she is shocked when he introduces himself to her. Rakesh hands Priya a bunch of names to add to the wedding guest list, making her realise how much she doesn't know about him. Kirin reassures her that this is what arranged marriages are all about. Lisa tries to help Sam with his mounting debts. She does her best to help, but an opportunity at work seems to good to resist. The stress of the situation, makes her feel overcome and she suddenly has a funny turn. Alicia tells Leyla she knows about Jai and asks her to move on. Jimmy decides to move back home, out of Bob's. But things are still frosty between him and Nicola.

Juliette tells Jim that she is planning on naming their baby Carl. She tells him that if he signs over parental rights, she will leave him alone. Juliette leaves, leaving Nicola to confront Jimmy. Sandy convinces Paddy and Aaron to go along with him to confront Lawrence. They soon learn that they have found the man they have been looking for, but he refuses to meet up with Edna. After seeing Jai buy Megan some flowers, Leyla snaps at David, almost giving away who her mystery man is. Sam tries to hide how panicked he is, after Zak and Lisa tell him the bailiffs have been round. Laurel tells Doug that her mum has gotten engaged, but he tells her he has arranged to meet up with a fan called Sasha later.
