Sky One is available to view on cable and satellite. The channel is part of BSkyB which is owned by News Corporation. The channel was launched in 1982 when it was originally known as the Sky Channel. The channel's name was changed to Sky One in 1989.

Series that are made in the United Kingdom that air on the channel include the popular football drama series Dream Team and the reality series Cirque de Celebrite.
