Episode 725 (Hampton, VA) - Recap

We open in Hampton, VA, and just like so many shows of late, we're greeted by "Ride of the Valkyries." Daniel Bryan makes his way to the ring chanting "YES!" with the crowd.

Michael Cole tells us that our main event tonight is Randy Orton vs Sheamus. But before that, we get our first match of the night featuring Daniel Bryan vs...

"Just Close Your Eyes" hits and Christian comes out to face Bryan to kick off 'WWE Smackdown!'

MATCH ONE: Christian vs Daniel Bryan

The two workhorses of the WWE of late look up at the briefcase above the ring and then lock it up. Bryan goes to work on Christian's arm immediately but Christian pushes off and hits a middle-rope missile dropkick. Bryan cuts off Christian with a shoulder block and begins stomping Christian's ribs. Bryan Irish whips Christian and follows up with a kitchen-sink knee-lift.
Bryan grabs a bow & arrow but Christian fights out. Christian hits a big spinebuster for a nearfall.
Christian hits a back elbow and back-body-drops Bryan to the outside. Bryan dodges a baseball slide to the outside and then takes out Christian with the running knee-lift off the apron!
Back from the break and we see Christian dodging a running dropkick from Bryan in the corner. Christian hits a neckbreaker for a two-count.
Bryan side-steps Christian and sends him to the outside, hard. Bryan runs the ropes for a suicide plancha--but runs into a right hand from Christian!
Bryan hits a gunpacket dropkick on Christian's left arm against the stairs. Christian's arm is hurt.
Back inside, Bryan backflips off the turnbuckles and Christian leaps off with a sunset flip for a nearfall. Christian hot-shots Bryan and ascends the top rope... Christian misses a cross-body! Bryan heads to the top rope and misses a diving headbutt!
Both men struggle to their feet and Christian goes for a tornado DDT--but Bryan reverses and hits several kicks. Christian ducks the head-kick and hits a reverse DDT drop!
Christian goes for a spear but runs into a boot to the head for a nearfall.
Bryan hits the running dropkick in the corner. Bryan charges for another one--and gets hit with a spear! Bryan kicks out!
Christian goes for the Killswitch but Bryan slips out. Christian leaps from the middle rope but Bryan catches Christian's arm mid-air and brings him down to the mat into the Yes Lock! Christian taps out!
WINNER: Daniel Bryan

Bryan celebrates with the crowd as Cole talks about Bryan's incredible win streak.

Backstage, Theodore Long is on the phone and is interrupted by The Show-Off, Dolph Ziggler. Long says that Ziggler gets the night off. Ziggler wants to be out there, showing off. Long explains that del Rio is facing Sin Cara tonight and he wants Ziggler out of the way, so he doesn't interfere.

Back from commercial and Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns, the Tag Team Champions, head to the ring to meet The Usos.

MATCH TWO: Tag Team Champion Seth Rollins, w/ Roman Reigns vs Jey Uso, w/ Jimmy Uso

Rollins and Uso trade headlocks and keylocks, jockeying for position. Jey scores the first takedown and hits a running lariat to a seated Rollins. Uso heads to the ropes but Rollins yanks him down. Rollins hits a back suplex for a nearfall. Rollins hits a Stinger splash for yet another nearfall. Rollins grabs a chinlock and Jey fights up with the help of the crowd. Rollins begins slamming Uso's head into successive turnbuckles and Uso Hulks up. Uso with right hands and a Stinger splash of his own, followed by a running butt-bump.
Reigns tries to get involved but Jimmy Uso takes him out with a kick. Jey Uso hits Rollins with an elevated Samoan drop for a nearfall. Uso heads to the top rope but Reigns distracts him--Rollins takes him down and hits a curb-stomp for the win!
WINNER: Tag Team Champion, Seth Rollins

Rollins and Reigns stand tall on the announce table, as dominant Tag Team Champions.

"Break Down the Walls" hits and the most spectacular jacket in North America lights up on stage! Chris Jericho heads to the ring, ready for our third match.
We see a recap of Jericho scoring a pinfall over Curtis Axel on Monday Night.
"Perfect Son" hits and out comes the Intercontinental Champion, with his manager Paul Heyman.

MATCH THREE: Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel, w/ Paul Heyman vs Chris Jericho (non-title)

Axel looks angry--he wants his win back. Axel demanded this rematch.
Axel opens up with fists and kicks, stomping Jericho into the corner. Axel shouts in Jericho's face. Jericho hits a back elbow and battles back with chops, followed by a middle-rope missile dropkick for a nearfall.
Jericho pounds away at Axel with fists and knees until Axel kicks his gut and goes back to work.
Jericho dodges a shoulderblock and Axel runs into the ringpost. Jericho calls for the Codebreaker--Axel reverses and hotshots Jericho off the top rope.
Back from commercial and Axel comes off the first rope with a falling axe-handle. Axel grinds his forearm in Jericho's face and chokes him on the ropes. Good, old-school heel tactics.
Jericho fights back with rights and drops Axel with a flying forearm, then hits a Northern Lights suplex with a bridge for a two-count. Jericho goes for the Walls of Jericho but Axel escapes and hits a snap back suplex. Axel chops away at Jericho in the corner but then runs into a boot. Jericho heads to the top rope... cross-body for a nearfall!
Jericho hits the running bulldog and misses a lionsault and Axel sends Jericho to the apron... Axel hits a hanging neckbreaker for a two-count of his own. Axel looks frustrated. Axel chokes Jericho on the mat and goes for a scoop slam--but Jericho reverses and goes for the Walls--but Axel rolls him up for another two-count. Jericho follows up with an enzuguiri for a nearfall then launches Axel outside to the floor with a back bodydrop. Jericho charges and misses a baseball slide and Axel catches him with a HUGE clothesline to the floor.
Axel sends Jericho back into the ring but as Axel climbs through the ropes, Jericho hits a Codebreaker! Axel falls to the floor unconscious and the ref counts him out!
WINNER: Chris Jericho

Jericho celebrates up the ramp. Axel comes to and screams "NO!" and throws a tantrum at ringside, destroying the announce table.

"I Came to Play" hits and The Miz dances out to the stage for our next match. Tons of wrestling on tonight's show!
We see a recap of The Miz defeating Ryback by forfeit two weeks ago. Tonight, we get a rematch.
"Feed Me More" hits and Ryback marches to the ring, psyched up.

MATCH FOUR: Ryback vs The Miz

The bell rings and Ryback tries to power Miz into the corners but Miz uses his momentum against him. Ryback charges Miz and gets low-bridged to the outside. Miz hits a baseball slide and a jumping axe-handle off the apron.
Miz boots Ryback on the ring and goes for another axe-handle, but gets caught mid-air and planted with a powerslam! Ryback hits a legdrop and then begins clubbing away on The Miz.
Ryback charges Miz back-first into the turnbuckle, then Irish whips him hard into the opposing turnbuckle. Ryback is in firm control.
Miz tries to fight back from his knees and smartly hits a chopblock to Ryback's injured knee. Ryback follows with a stiff lariat and begins slamming Miz' head to the mat. Ryback hits a scoop slam and goes for a splash but Miz gets the knees up!
Miz starts throwing lefts out of desperation. He gunpacket dropkicks Ryback's injured knee, followed by a running boot to the face and Ryback is down!
Miz gets the crowd hyped and charges for his corner clothesline. Miz comes off the top rope with a double axe-handle and sets up for the figure four leglock, then grabs a shinbreaker instead. Miz sets Ryback in the corner and drops his leg with a kneebreaker! Ryback is writhing in pain and complaining to the ref that something in his knee popped. Ryback refuses to stop the match this time as Miz watches on.
Ryback pushes the ref out of the way and takes Miz' head off with a lariat, followed by a Shell Shock on his injured leg. Three-count!
WINNER: Ryback

Ryback limps out of the ring and to the mat, clearly favoring the knee that Miz went to work on.

Backstage, Renee Young is interviewing Sheamus about the Money in the Bank Contract ladder match. Tonight, he faces Randy Orton. Sheamus says Saint Patrick drove the snakes out of Ireland and today he's going to drive out The Viper.
At the end of the interview, he tells Renee that he thinks she's pretty cute.

Back from commercial and we have Teddy Long, Kaitlyn and the Divas Champion AJ Lee having a contract signing in the ring. The rest of the divas (and Big E Langston) are in the ring as well. AJ takes the mic and makes fun of the other divas. She asks Kaitlyn if the other divas are here to protect Kaitlyn from her. AJ says that no one cared about the Divas division until she won the title.
Long cuts AJ off and says they don't have time for her talk, she needs to sign the contract. AJ does so.
AJ tells Kaitlyn that she shouldn't want to sign the contract, because at Money in the Bank AJ will embarass Kaitlyn worse than she ever has before. Kaitlyn signs and the match is on!
AJ says that she tried to help her but now she has no choice... she has a lot of texts that she sent to her secret admirer, who turned out to be Big E Langston--following orders from AJ Lee.
AJ reads a text where Kaitlyn insults Natalya & her family. Then, a text where Kaitlyn insulted Naomi and Camron.
Kaitlyn grabs the phone but Lee posts the texts on the titantron.
Lee mocks Kaitlyn and tells her to tear up the contract and leave the WWE forever.
Kaitlyn says no; AJ can't manipulate her again. She calls AJ a needy, clingy, man-crazed psychopath. AJ slaps Kaitlyn and Kaitlyn climbs on the table and begins to beat her down until Langston pulls her off. Kaitlyn slaps Langston's face and spears AJ to the mat. AJ is floored and motionless and Langston looks angry. Kaitlyn leaves with Layla El.

Backstage, Fandango is kissing his reflection and heading to the ring with Summer Rae.
Back from commercial and Wade Barrett is already in the ring and Zeb Colter, Jack Swagger & Antonio Cesaro (the Real Americans) are with the commentary team.
Fandango's music hits and he and Summer Rae dance out to meet Wade Barrett in the next match.

MATCH FIVE: Fandango, w/ Summer Rae vs Wade Barrett

The bell rings and the two men circle each other. Fandango begins dancing and Barrett hits a big boot to the face for an immediate nearfall. Barrett stomps Fandango in the corner then hits a big backbreaker for another nearfall. Barrett hits a short-arm clothesline and lays Fandango across the top turnbuckle. Suddenly, Team Rhodes Scholars march down the ramp and get into it with The Real Americans. Barrett was distracted by the commotion and Fandango rolls up Barrett for the 3-count.
WINNER: Fandango

After the match, the competitors in the Money in the Bank World Heavyweight Contract ladder match bicker with each other.

Cole announces that due to the attack from the Wyatt Family, Kane is not able to compete in the Money in the Bank All-Stars match on Sunday. We see a recap of the Wyatts hitting Kane with a constairto.

Back in the arena, Alberto del Rio's music hits and the World Heavyweight Champion heads to the ring. "Faceless" hits and Sin Cara makes his entrance for a rematch against the World Champion.
Cara charges the ring and attacks del Rio before even removing his robe! The ref tries to pull them apart but they keep fighting--JBL notes that Cara looks different tonight... suddenly Cara hits del Rio with a Zig-Zag! It isn't Sin Cara, but the #1 Contender, Dolph Ziggler in disguise! Ziggler keeps the Cara mask on, as he was asked not to interfere tonight, but he dances and celebrates his sneak attack up the ramp.

Suddenly, Vickie Guerrero comes out of the crowd and snatches the microphone from Lillian Garcia. Vickie screams into the mic that Teddy Long needs to be fired like she was. Long comes out and calls security. Security escorts Guerrero out of the arena as the crowd sings "Na Na Na Na..."

Backstage, Teddy Long chases after Sin Cara calling him Dolph Ziggler. Just then, Ziggler appears behind the real Sin Cara in his street clothes and congratulates Cara on his attack. "Never seen you look better!"

"Too Many Lies" hits and Sheamus heads out for our main event!
Cole announces that Sheamus will appear in the Money in the Bank All-Stars match, which now has six competitors, thanks to the elimination of Kane.
"I Hear Voices" hits and The Viper, Randy Orton heads to the ring.

MATCH SIX: Randy Orton vs Sheamus

The bell rings and The Celtic Warrior locks up with The Apex Predator. The pair wrestle in the corner and the ref calls for a break. Orton hits a headbutt and begins clubbing away. Sheamus fights back with rights of his own. Orton rakes the eyes, showing distinct heel tactics in the match. Sheamus hits a vertical suplex for a two-count.
The crowd is chanting "let's go Sheamus" and "let's go Randy" in stereo.
Orton hits more headbutts and a European uppercut, but Sheamus hits him with a scoop slam. Orton throws Sheamus between the ropes and the brawl spills to the outside. Sheamus bounces Orton off the announce table. Orton tries to Irish whip Sheamus into the steps but when Sheamus turns around he gets hit with a stiff lariat on the floor.
Back from the break and Orton has a chinlock on Sheamus in the middle of the ring. Sheamus tries to fight out but Orton hits a beautiful dropkick to Sheamus' chin. Orton grabs another chinlock with a bodyscissors. Sheamus struggles to his feet again and battles out with fists. Sheamus hits a running clothesline and both men are down.
Back up, Sheamus hits two axe-handles and starts rolling... but Orton dodges a blow and hits his powerslam for a nearfall.
Orton whips Sheamus but Sheamus grabs Orton for the Irish Curse backbreaker! Orton kicks out!
Sheamus lifts Orton for a rolling senton but Orton fights out and hits the falling chinlock backbreaker for a two-count of his own. Sheamus rolls to the apron and Orton goes for the hanging DDT, but Sheamus counters and hot-shots Orton on the ropes. Sheamus wrestles Orton into position and hits the 10-punch to Orton's sternum. Sheamus lifts Orton and hits the rolling senton! Sheamus is calling for the Brogue Kick... he charges and Orton ducks. Sheamus heads to the top rope and Orton cuts him off, then hits the hanging DDT!
Orton hypes the crown and sets up for the RKO...
Sheamus counters and pushes Orton off and Orton lands on the back of his head! Sheamus ascends the ropes but Orton manages to hang him up again. Orton headbutts Sheamus six times and climbs for a superplex, but both men spill to the outside in a dangerous spot. Both men are down and the ref is counting... when Daniel Bryan rushes out and brings a ladder into the ring!
Bryan takes out both Sheamus and Orton with the ladder!
WINNER: No Contest

Bryan sets up the ladder and begins to climb but Sheamus takes him out. Now Sheamus is climbing when Christian appears and takes Sheamus out! Christian climbs but Sheamus drags him back down. Sheamus and Christian climb both sides and Christian takes Sheamus down hard. Bryan pushes the ladder and Christian is down. Bryan tries to set up again when Orton appears and hits Bryan with an RKO!
Orton climbs the ladder and retrieves the briefcase as Smackdown goes off the air.
