Modern Family

Modern Family

When the Pritchett, Delgado and Dunphy families agree to be interviewed by a documentary crew, they have no idea just how much they're about to reveal about themselves. Jay Pritchett met the stunning Columbian Gloria when she bartended in a bikini at the pool party he threw for himself the day his wife left him. Now Jay and Gloria are married and Jay tries hard to keep up with his much younger and hotter wife and her passionate teenage son, Manny. Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen) is having a hard time raising her own family. Her husband Phil is great, except for the fact that he thinks he's "down" with their teenage kids, much to their embarrassment. Mitchell Pritchett and his enthusiastic partner Cameron have just adopted Lily, a precious little baby girl from Vietnam. This engaging new comedy offers a 'mockumentary' view into the complicated, messy, loving life of three unique families. Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd invite you into the sometimes warm and sometimes twisted embrace of modern day families.

ABC throws us into the lives of a 3 generation spanning family filmed in a "mockumentary" style. I am not a big fan of "mockumentaries" but that's a personal preference. At least they keep the camera shaking and odd camera movement to a minimum. The style element used most is the "on the couch" interview of the characters which can be quite amusing at times. I agree with Kindjal on some levels, like a very slow start for the show.
I did watch the pilot just when it came out, but this show was washed away since i watch ALOT of series. Read more

Recaps
3x24: Baby on Board recap: The episode begins with Cam and Lily dancing around in their living room preparing for Lily’s dance recital at school, with Mitch looking on. Just then they receive a call informing them that, they have been chosen by a mother to be the adoptive parents of her child. It also turns out that the mother is delivering today, and the both of them have to be there for the delivery. Later, Gloria tells Jay and Manny about the baby, she also tells Claire about it over the phone. Claire then calls Mitch to reprimand him for not telling her first, but turns out its Cam who informed Gloria about it. Meanwhile at the Dunphy house Phil is trying to convince Haley to go to the prom. She in turn tells him that a prom is for dorks... read more.

3x23: Tableau Vivant recap: The episode begins with Phil wondering how he should tell Mitch that he is fired. Clair tells him to be direct. Phil feels Mitch was being lazy with his work, as he was doing Phil’s work practically free of cost. Meanwhile, Alex is worried about not being able to impress her art teacher. Luke on the other hand is receiving a medal for extinguishing a fire that he himself started in the school lab, and then lied not knowing anything about. Just as Phil goes back to mulling over the letter he is going to write to fire Mitch, Haley sneaks in through the backdoor. She hears Phil talk to himself, about how hurt he is, and assumes he is talking to her. She immediately apologizes to him for being late... read more.

3x22: Disneyland recap: The episode begins at the Dunphy house. The Dunphy’s are readying to go to Disneyland. Claire wants everybody to eat at home, as Disneyland food is expensive. Meanwhile, the Pritchetts too are going, Manny though isn’t too excited, as he has a school project. Gloria is wearing really high heels despite Jay warning her that there is a lot of walking involved. Meanwhile, Claire’s friend’s nephew Ethan is coming with them to Disneyland; Alex and Haley seem to form an instant liking to football player Ethan. Later the whole family meets up at Disneyland with Cam and Mitch also joining in. Everybody is shocked to see Mitch and Cam put Lily on a leash like thing to keep her in control, as she bolts every chance she gets. They then head for the rides... read more.

3x21: Planes, Train and Cars recap: The episode begins with Phil and his friend arriving to buy a new Cadillac. Phil in the meanwhile yearns to buy a Porsche. Meanwhile, Mitch and Cam are taking Lily on her first train ride. Cam bends down to tie Lily’s shoelace and throws Mitch Lily’s toy bunny, but instead of Mitch catching it, the bunny falls inside the train with the doors of the train closing and the train leaving, with Mitch looking on in despair. Lily is agitated and Mitch and Cam are at a loss about what they should do. Meanwhile, Phil is admiring the Porsche parked in front of him. Mitch’s friend prompts him to buy it, if he wants it so badly. Phil is in the end sold on the idea and decides to take the Porsche for a spin. Meanwhile the Pritchett family is going to Pebble Beach for the weekend. Jay is very excited to go, as he would meet guys there who according to him, really look up to him... read more.

3x20: The Last Walt recap: The episode begins, and we are told by Claire that, Walt their next-door neighbor has died. Walt and Luke were really close; hence it would be a challenge for Phil and Claire to break the news to him, from the looks of it. Phil has some ides which Claire shoots down. They end up telling Luke the truth, and Luke reacts in way which amazes the both of them, in other words he is unfazed. Meanwhile, Haley comes over to meet and convince Gloria to let her, and her friends have a pool party at the Prichetts. Although Gloria and Jay would be out for dinner, Gloria agrees to the idea as Haley promises that she would get a parent-approved chaperone for the party... read more.
